With deep sorrow, family and friends remember Dillon Robert Pearce, a 34-year-old engineer and former competitive athlete from Ann Arbor, whose unexpected passing while visiting family in Chicago has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Born on April 10, 1992, in Southfield, Michigan, Dillon was the son of Russell Randall “Randy” Pearce and Tina Marie Pearce. Raised in Ann Arbor, he developed a deep passion for sports at an early age, particularly hockey. His talent and dedication led him to compete at a high level with elite programs such as Honey Baked Ham and Little Caesars, where he earned world championship titles. He also found success in roller hockey with Team Next, capturing multiple national championships.
Dillon attended Huron High School before continuing his education at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he studied mechanical engineering. During his time in Alaska, he embraced the outdoors, often spending his free time hiking and exploring nature with his beloved dog, Max. He was also an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, reflecting both his academic commitment and his interest in innovation.
After graduating, Dillon returned to Michigan and began his career with Ford Motor Company as a product development engineer. He took pride in his work and valued being part of projects that contributed to large-scale engineering advancements.
Those closest to Dillon remember him as sociable, humorous, and adventurous. He maintained strong bonds with his family, sharing meaningful traditions such as traveling to Major League Baseball stadiums with his father, cooking alongside his mother, and spending quality time with his sisters. He is survived by his parents; his sisters, Kristen Hetter and Kari Pearce; his niece and nephew; and his loyal companion, Max. A scholarship will be established in his honor at the University of Alaska Anchorage, reflecting his commitment to education and growth.
A celebration of his life will be held in Ann Arbor on May 5, 2026, followed by a private family burial. Dillon Pearce will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
