According to Columbus Police, the crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. near the King Avenue exit on SR-315 North. Investigators reported that a white 2018 Mercedes-Benz was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with a black 2018 Mercedes-Benz. The impact was severe, leaving multiple people critically injured and bringing traffic on the highway to a standstill for several hours.

Kaitlyn Spahr, who was a passenger in the black Mercedes, was transported for emergency medical treatment but tragically did not survive her injuries. She was pronounced deceased at 10:51 p.m. The two drivers involved in the crash remain hospitalized in critical condition as authorities continue their investigation.

Police say the crash followed a series of events that began earlier in the evening involving an alleged vehicle theft in the Clintonville area. Investigators allege that a suspect entered a woman’s vehicle under the pretense of needing assistance, later threatening her before fleeing in the stolen car. Shortly afterward, the suspect is believed to have driven the wrong way onto SR-315, resulting in the fatal collision.

Authorities have charged the suspect, identified as Xiaoke Fan, with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and aggravated robbery. The investigation remains ongoing, and court proceedings have not yet been scheduled.
